‘The Wire’ heads to BBC 2 with complete five seasons

Baltimore based American tv show ‘The Wire’, ran on HBO Network for five consecutive seasons and received fabulous success during its run. It went off air on March 9, 2008, just a few months ago with the series finale ‘-30-‘. As of now, series has been picked up by BBC 2 to air all the 60 episodes of the series, giving an option to celebrate to its fans. The complete show would be rerun and the ones who were missing ‘The Wire’ after its cancellation can pick up their favorite show once again.

Since its launch in 2002, ‘The Wire’, the dark police drama, has been one of the most acclaimed and most accepted HBO TV dramas. US TV fans welcomed ‘The Wire’ with open arms and the same is expected from the UK TV fans. No airing schedules, such as day and time etc, are confirmed yet! Sue Deeks, BBC’s head of series, programme acquisition, said “We are delighted to offer terrestrial viewers the opportunity to watch this ground-breaking series. It’s a wonderful chance for everyone to see what the critics have been raving about for so long”. Its’ gonna be the first time ever when ‘The Wire’ would be picked up by a terrestrial TV.

The plot of series is set in Baltimore and it centers on a group of police officers. It’s worldwide known for focusing on social issues such as poverty, gangs, drugs, corruption rather than just showing the typical police station environment. The next priority is given to gangsters, drug addicts and corrupt politicians and journalists etc. Leading the star cast is Dominic West, portraying Det. James “Jimmy” McNulty. Helping him are Sonja John and Lance Reddick appearing as Det. Shakima “Kima” Greggs and Lt. Cedric Daniels respectively.

It’s gonna be pretty interesting to watch all episodes of ‘The Wire’ once again. It’s more thrilling to watch TV shows on TV, but what during this time period. Hey, download season 5 and in fact, all seasons of The Wire, until it returns on BBC 2.
