The Wire Producer comes up with the new gusto
However, “The Wire” has ended over, but David Simon’s mind can never be deprived of the creative ideas. Nonetheless, he has attachment with his cast to the extent that he keeps them with him in his new projects as well. This is evident of his being a successful producer, a good human being and a loyal friend.
Confused? I am talking about David Simon’s new creation “Treme”. This time the storyline has landed New Orleans instead of Baltimore. According to David Simon’s statements, the story is about post Katrina history of the city. Rather it will be based upon the true events, which everybody is aware of.
Apart from the interesting story, David has some other bait as well to keep you bonded with the show. Wendell Pierce, the homicide detective Bunk Moreland and Clarke Peters, who portrayed Major Case Unit Detective Lester Freamon in “The Wire”, will be part of “Treme” as well. The role is convenient for Pierce as he is native of New Orleans and now has to play as a resident. He is playing Antoine Batiste, the struggling musician, trying to hook money to support his girl friend and their new born baby. While Peters will play a high profile character as Albert Lambreaux, the big chief of the White Feather Nation.
Another star studded in the “Treme’s” belt is Khandi Alexander from CSI-Miami. Alexander is gonna play Batiste’s ex-wife on the new show. Cool cast, cool producer, I don’t think anybody can stop this series from becoming HBO’s another hit.
Well, I hope this will be equally realistic as “The Wire” was. I am still a great admirer of that show and I still want more of this. That’s why I usually come here to have one more glimpse of my favorite detective drama.
Although there are many other similar dramas running on screen, but none has that much originality in the storyline. “The Wire” is like a story direct from David’s heart and I’ll keep watching it whether it’s on or off the screen.
