It becomes even more sensitive when a movie on the life and times of someone like Nelson Mandela is the need of the hour.

Former The Wire star Idris Elba seemed to strike a right deal at the right time, and eventually gave the dreams of filmmaker Anant Singh a chance to get fulfilled.

The African origin British-born star has been roped for portraying South Africa’s greatest national hero, Nelson Mandela on screen.

Singh got the approval of the biographical project way back in 1997, and it is only recently he managed to sign in Elba for the role.

Rumors have it that the delay in the project showed up because the filmmaker was unable to find a guy with the same height of Mandela all those years.

It’s not that Elba is the only actor who will be playing the anti-apartheid activist for first time on big screen; previously Morgan Freeman had tired his hands on it with Invictus.

So the interesting question that pops out is will Elba be able to give Morgan a good run for his money and fame?
Hard to tell at this point of time for both the actors are first among equals. Morgan Freeman must have the upper hand when it comes to fetch preference from fans because of his experience. Nonetheless, the young British guy on the other hand is no ordinary mortal.

Apart from playing the bad guy on David Simon’s crime drama, a role which still compels many fans to enjoy The Wire episodes online, Idris Elba set the stone rolling with award winning acts on Luther series. The British show recently earned him the coveted Golden Globe award.

Way to go for the handsome hunk once the biopic releases, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some plumb offers to act in new projects. Playing a Mandela won’t be easy, but that’s what he is supposed to do-to act out the difficult!

We certainly don’t have a doubt on his capabilities and most importantly his sensibilities as a mature individual.

And if I know you well, the mind out there is already caught up in the whims and fancies of the caption itself.

Well, guys I’m talking about a two-segment British movie, ‘Appropriate Adult’ starring Dominic West and Emily Watson.

All those who admire Dominic West, would be delighted to see this actor put on the robes of an entirely nouveau fashion - his part being that of Fred West, a serial killer.

Based on a real instance, the film captures the equation between the one facing the wrath of law and another individual, a social worker, Jane Leach (Emily Watson) who is chosen to represent the accused and be a part of all the legal proceedings.

While the one facing the charges has to be on his guard, as he conceals more than one can imagine, his ‘appropriate adult’ also faces enough problems in the path leading to justice.

One must commend Dominic for daring to play such a stellar role.

One is usually driven to go for a download of this drama on the small screen, to tune-in to Jimmy’s ways of handling those, who commit the crime and take the authorities for granted.

Tune-in to The Wire episodes and gear up to meet Stringer (Idris Elba), an aide to one of the honchos who used to dominate the drug cartel.

In one of his recent series titled, ‘Luther 2,’ Elba portrays a man who is into crime investigation, but before he could take a dive in, he has to deal with the pricking pangs of his own conscience.

While critics are vowing for another Emmy for the actor, we can only assume that Mr. Elba is at his crescendo and trying to deliver what comes so naturally to him.

His mesmerizing act seems to have taken everyone by storm and we believe that more such feats would follow soon.

That’s certainly not all. Snitches have revealed that Elba is getting ready to produce an upcoming film, ‘Swift’.

Charlize Theron and Tulisa Contostavlos would be seen in the principal cast while Elba would be donning the part of a sportsperson at the nadir in his professional life.

Now, that clearly is tempting and I, for one, can’t wait for the film to see the light of day!

Swift is Elba’s third film as a producer; the other two being, ‘Demons Never Die’ and ‘Milk & Honey’, which was a web-based series.

Let’s see where Elba is in a few years time, considering how tough and judgmental film critics become when an actor takes a new path (say, direction or production)!

We had a wondrous journey into Detective James “Jimmy” McNulty’s exciting past that lasted from 2002 to 2008.

We were smitten by his audacity, when it came to pulling the collars of those, who were embroiled in some or the other malfeasance.

Audiences across the UK have voted for to be the best TV show they like to rent on DVDs.

This survey has been conducted by one of the top British TV rental firms, in an attempt to get an idea of what’s the hottest grab from the DVD rental stores in the UK.

While Britain’s own popular comic series Misfits ranked sixth on this list, sitcoms like Modern Family and crime shows like The Killing finished as second and third respectively. Dexter and Big Bang Theory followed closely afterwards in the voting rank list.

It’s interesting to note how the crime-cum-drama series that circles in and around the city of Baltimore and the people therein has managed to cross all boundaries and win hearts not only of American audiences but of British TV lover as well!

Heartiest congratulation to the team of The Wire as they have one more reason to celebrate this year! They have already been acknowledged as being a part of one of the best works of fiction in the year 2000. And with that now, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to give The Wire download a miss!

Well, we do hope that Dominic overcomes this fear soon, for we are not used to his chivalry being marred by these grey hues!

It seems that everyone’s looking forward to just one thing on TV this year, which is the story of one of the goriest serial killers and rapists, Fred West.

The dreaded criminal’s story will be told in an upcoming TV series, ‘Appropriate Adult’, which will see Dominic West taking on the challenging role of portraying Fred.

Dominic has always been known to be a perfectionist, which he claims to do, by identifying with the character that he plays.

While that’s great for a role like that played by him on The Wire episodes, it seems to be taking it a little too far when he says that he’s been able to identify himself with Fred West too!

I mean how exactly do you find any similarity whatsoever, with a man who left the entire nation in utter shock, when his ruthless crimes came to the surface? Did you know that he and his wife, Rose, had tortured, raped and murdered 12 young girls, over a period of a few years?

Well, Dominic somehow manages to do it, and he says that he can empathize with Fred to quite an extent, since he also has dark sexual fantasies similar to those that Fred had. He went on to say that while he initially considered Fred to be a monster, he gradually developed an understanding for him, which helped in the execution of his role.

However, he admits that it’s very dangerous to be having such feelings for such a heinous criminal, due to which he consciously curbs himself from developing excessive sympathy for the man.

Even though it maybe disturbing for many to know that this iconic actor harbors such feelings for one of the most hated criminals ever to have lived, yet we can’t wait to see how the actor’s approach to the role will manifest in his portrayal of the role, when the show finally hits the screens later this year.
